Old blog posts: give them a second life.

Rebuild the old post around one question your customer asks today. Put a clear answer at the top, replace what is outdated, add evidence from your own work, and check that search engines can find and read the page.

The main points

The useful part is buried. Bring it forward.

Somewhere under an old introduction there is often an answer worth rescuing.

Find it

The question hiding inside.

Underline the passage that answers a real customer question. Then finish this line: after reading this page, someone will be able to do what?

Finds: the page's job
Lead with it

Bring the answer to the opening.

Replace the warm-up paragraph with the answer and where to begin. Read the first paragraph alone. It answers the headline's question.

Earns: the answer
Make it current

Replace what went stale.

Open every link, check every instruction, remove claims you can no longer verify. Changing the date alone does not make a post fresh.

Earns: trust
Give it a job

Then measure it.

Save the original, record what changed, and compare impressions, clicks and inquiries. Track AI citations separately.

Questions

Refreshing old posts for AI search, answered.

Is it worth updating an old blog post?

When it holds relevant experience you can still support. If the subject no longer fits your business, a new layout will not make it the right project.

Do I keep the same URL?

Yes. Keep the existing URL, improve the answer, and replace outdated information.

Does updating the date help?

Google's guidance cautions against changing dates to make unchanged content look fresh. Improve the substance first.

Does AI search require special schema?

Google says foundational SEO still applies to its AI features, and no special AI schema is required. Important content belongs in text, and the page has to be indexed.
